Starlink Mount Guide — Find the Right Mount for How You Travel

Not every trip's the same, so we don't build one mount and call it done. Whether you're towing the van up the highway, running a lean rig on a budget, or chasing a signal well off the bitumen, we've got a mount that's built for it. Here's the rundown, so you get the right one the first time.

Tough Mount — built to stay put, no matter what the road throws at you

Our original, best-selling mount — and the one that started it all. Tough Mount is a permanent, bolted fitting made from stainless steel and HDPE clamps, with an acrylic cover to shrug off stone strike and weather. Corrugations, highway speed, mine site tracks — it stays exactly where you put it, backed by our 12-month warranty.

Pair it with our Quick Release plates and you can swap the whole rig between vehicles, equipment or boats in seconds, with multiple mounting holes to suit common platform rack systems.

Best for: anyone doing regular highway or sealed-road travel — tourers, grey nomads, tradies on the road.
Fit: full-size Starlink dish or the Mini — we've got a mount for each.
Rated for: sealed roads and highway speed, and harsh conditions like mine sites and corrugations. Doing a lap of Australia? This is your mount.

Lite Mount — same tough hold, built lighter

Running a Mini Starlink and don't need the full Tough Mount setup? Lite Mount gives you the same permanent, bolted reliability in a lighter aluminium frame. Built for the smaller dish, not a scaled-down promise — still a fixed fitting, still rated for the road.

Best for: Mini Starlink owners after a permanent setup without the extra bulk.
Fit: Mini Starlink only.
Rated for: Light off roading, public roads and highway speed.

Track Mount — quick to fit, built for the track

Our newest mount, and a different tool for a different job. Track Mount runs a magnetic base so you can fit and pull your dish in seconds flat — no drilling, no bolts. That's what makes it the right call off-road.

Magnetic hold drops off with speed, vibration, heat and dust, so we designed the Track for off road us — comfortably below even the lowest sealed-road speed zone. It's not designed or sold for public roads at any speed, and it's never the right mount for the highway. Need a highway-rated mount? Grab a Tough Mount or Lite Mount instead. In a collision or sudden stop, an unsecured mount can let go and become a projectile — risking serious injury, death or damage to other vehicles. Always check it's fully seated and secure before you drive.

Best for: short, low-speed, off-road legs, paddock work, campsites, quick fit/remove convenience as well as perfect for use on tractors and earth moving equipment.

MineSpec Light Bar — visibility and Starlink in one setup

Built for mining, construction and remote worksites, the MineSpec Integrated Starlink Light Bar combines site lighting with a purpose-built mount for your Starlink Mini. The dish fits directly into the bar, so there’s no need to add a separate mounting bracket or piece together two different systems.

Designed in Queensland by experienced diesel fitters, it’s made for demanding work environments where visibility, connectivity and practical fitment matter. Choose between a flashing light with reverse beeper, or add high lights for extra illumination. Mounting legs are sold separately, letting you select the right fit for your vehicle.

FAQ

Can I use Track Mount on the highway or other classified roads?
No. Track Mount is designed and sold for off-road use only. Magnetic hold decreases with speed, vibration, heat and dust, and magnets don't provide a mechanical interlock — a bolt, rivet, clamp or rated strap — so they don't meet the load restraint standards required for securing items during road transport. Using Track Mount on a classified road risks the dish detaching while driving, including in the event of an accident. Use Tough Mount or Lite Mount for any sealed-road or highway travel.

What's the difference between Tough Mount and Lite Mount?
Both are permanent, bolted fittings rated for highway speed. Tough Mount is stainless steel with HDPE clamps and an acrylic cover, built to protect your Starlink dish from stones and debris in storms or hail. Lite Mount is an aluminium frame built for the Mini Starlink only — same permanent reliability, lighter setup.

How do I check my Track Mount before a trip?
Give it a visual check, make sure it's fully seated, and clear any dust or debris off the magnetic base. Heading onto sealed roads? Swap to a Tough Mount or Lite Mount instead.

Is Track Mount weaker than the others?
No — it's built for a different job. Tough Mount and Lite Mount are designed for permanent and semi permanent fitting. Track Mount trades that permanence for speed and convenience — exactly what makes it right for quick off-road stops, the paddock or camp setups, and wrong for the highway.

Track Mount feels rock solid — why can't I just chance it on the road?
Fair question. Magnets can feel incredibly strong when you try to shift the mount by hand, and they'll hold fine even at highway speeds. But a sudden stop or collision puts forces through that mount well beyond anything you'd feel pulling on it in the driveway. Under that kind of load, a magnetic mount is still classed as an unsecured load and will most likely detach — turning your dish into a hazard for you and everyone around you. Feeling secure and meeting road safety standards are two different things, and that gap is exactly why Track Mount was designed for off-road use.

How do I best maintain my Track Mount?

• Suitable surfaces: Only install on clean, flat, structurally sound ferromagnetic steel surfaces that allow full contact with all magnets.
• Unsuitable surfaces: Don't install on aluminium, fibreglass, plastic, heavily curved, damaged, rusted or otherwise unsuitable surfaces.
• Clean before installation: Make sure both the magnets and the vehicle surface are clean and free of dirt, sand, mud, grease and debris before you fit it.
• Check before driving: Before every use, confirm the mount is correctly positioned, all magnets have full contact, and the unit is securely attached.
• Regular inspections: Recheck the mount during extended use and after off-road driving, corrugations, severe vibration, impacts, branches or extreme weather.
• Operating conditions: Vehicle speed, wind loading, vibration, road conditions and impacts can all affect the security of externally mounted equipment. Always operate within the product's specified limits.
• Damaged components: Don't use the mount if the magnets, fasteners, mounting components or vehicle mounting surface are damaged, loose, excessively worn or corroded.
• No unauthorised modifications: Don't modify, alter or substitute the magnets, mounting hardware or other components.
• Paint protection: Magnetic mounts can mark or damage vehicle paintwork, particularly if dirt or debris gets trapped underneath. Clean and inspect the mounting area regularly.
• User responsibility: It's the user's responsibility to make sure the mount is correctly installed, maintained, inspected and suitable for the vehicle, surface and conditions of use.
